NEPTUNE’S MEMORY

Image
Hello folks, How are you guys? Here I am again with my new painting—this time, something a little different. So, last week I was just scrolling through Instagram and saw this artist making a full-on sculpture with proper clay. Like, legit using a chisel. And boom...I was like, “Why can’t I try this?” But as much as I love my impulsive art ideas, I also know that sculpting is not my cup of iced tea. Or even warm tea, honestly. So I started hunting for something that feels  sculpture-y but doesn’t require a hammer or, you know… talent in clay or stone carving. And that’s when I stumbled upon this magical thing called air dry clay . And obviously, I bought one. Because, you know... who needs self-control anyway? The result? Well, it's what you see below. I named it Neptune’s Memory . Well, don’t ask me why... I highly doubt the sea god would want to have a memory like this anyway. As for the painting details: Medium: Acrylics Surface: Canvas board Size: 8×10 inches 3D...

THORN AND PETALS

Image
Hey guys! I am back after 2 months with a new painting! (totally not making excuses for taking a whole month to finish this 😅). But hey—it’s finally done! Now let me tell you about the character behind this piece. She’s from a manhwa I read called ' My Beloved Oppressor'. A descendant of the Padanian (a fictional place) royal family and the only daughter of the Marquis of Rosenberg, a high-ranking military officer. She’s also a gifted pianist. So, after dating for two years, she marries Heiner, her father’s loyal servant. But things take a dark turn. The royal family is overthrown by a revolutionary army—led by Heiner himself. Her father’s legacy crumbles, and she realizes her husband had approached her with a hidden agenda all along. Though she is labeled as a wicked woman by the public, she acknowledges the wrongs committed by her father. Still, she’s left alone, emotionally drained, and struggling under her husband’s cruelty. But before you judge Heiner, I’d strongly sugge...

NEKO CHAN AND HIMAWARI

Hey hey, guess who's back? Yep, me! With another painting and another story. So, it's already 2025… and did I post anything for New Year? Nope. Why? Because I’m lazy. But you probably knew that already. 😂 Buuuut, in my defense, I’ve actually been swamped with work these past few weeks, so I just didn’t get the time to post my last painting. Anyway, here it is—TA-DA! A cat! Or as we say in Bangla, beral . 🐱 You know, I realized I had never painted an animal on a canvas before. And then, out of nowhere, it hit me—why not paint a cat? Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% a dog person. But hey, cats are cute too, y’know. Oh, and the idea? Stole—uh, I mean, borrowed —it from Pinterest. That app is basically my encyclopedia. Search for anything, and boom, there it is. So yeah, that’s the story behind this one! What do you think?  Oh, and guess what? The cat is chilling on a whole sunflower field. Like, what more do you want? (I tried to paint this in a style inspired by Sir Van Gogh.....

THE GENESIS OF INFINITY

Image
Hey there! How’s everyone doing? Hope you’re all great!  .............. I remember when I started this blog a few months back, I was on a roll—posted 3-4 stories in just two days!  But now?  Well.... Let’s just say my energy packed its bags and went on an extended vacation, leaving me here with my gold-medal-worthy procrastination skills and the classic excuse: work. 😅 .............. Umm.. Let’s dive into the story behind my latest painting now! I painted this piece last month and named it The Genesis of Infinity .  It represents the origin of the universe and the concept of infinity. The artwork portrays Lord Shiva and Parvati, symbolizing Mahakal and Shakti.  Mahakal, referring to Lord Shiva, embodies a being beyond the boundaries of time, while Shakti represents power and the nurturing essence of a mother.  This painting is my tribute to the eternal balance of the cosmos.  Created on a 12x16-inch canvas board using acrylics. That’s it for tonight. ...

CRY ME TO THE MOON

Image
Long time no see, right?  .............. The past month has been incredibly tough. If you’re from Kolkata, India, you’ve probably guessed why. It's the RG Kar Medical College victim case we’re all dealing with, and yes, it’s been mentally draining for everyone. (For those who need context, please refer to the Notes below.) In light of this, I created a painting titled "Cry Me to the Moon." As you know, I tend to infuse my artwork with vibrant colors and a dreamy quality because I’m not fond of realistic depictions—at least not for my paintings. So, I used a wide palette of colors to represent the vibrancy that seems to be missing from our world right now. We hope the light will shine upon us soon.  As for the painting details, it’s done with acrylics on a 10x12 inch canvas board. Wrapping it up here—see you later! Yours truly, Subarna ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES - RG Ka...

WHAT IF : A TALE OF 3 MUSKETEERS

Image
Imagine a universe where Luffy from One Piece , Naruto from Naruto , and Ichigo from Bleach become the best of friends. The chaos and hilarity that would ensue would be legendary! The Beginning of a Beautiful Chaos Luffy : "I’m gonna be the Pirate King!" Naruto : "Believe it! I’m gonna be Hokage!" Ichigo : "Can you two keep it down? I’m trying to save the world here!" These three meet during a cosmic mix-up where their worlds collide, literally. The first thing they do? Compete to see who can eat the most ramen or maybe meat. 👀 (Spoiler: Luffy wins by a landslide, while Naruto sulks and Ichigo wonders why he’s even there.) Training Gone Wrong Naruto : "I’ll teach you how to summon frogs!" Luffy : "Cool! Can I eat them?" Ichigo : "I’m surrounded by idiots." Naruto attempts to teach Luffy and Ichigo the art of summoning. Luffy tries to eat Naruto's summoned frog, Gamakichi, while Ichigo accidentally summons his inner Hollo...

MY MANGA DELIGHTS 1.0

Image
As I already mentioned, I'm a huge anime fan and avid manga reader. I keep up with weekly manga releases from different genres. Today, let's talk about some shoujo mangas. (Shoujo means aimed primarily at a young female audience, typically teen girls.) You can guess from the description that there would be a super handsome guy and a girl who eventually fall in love. Absolutely! And I love these stories. Who wouldn't? You've got a tall, handsome guy who's into basketball and gaming, with killer looks to boot! He only has eyes for one girl. Even though a bunch of other girls fawn over him, he never pays them any attention and eventually falls for the damsel in distress. Highly unrealistic, right? It's the classic shoujo manga charm! But despite the recurring themes, there are some outstanding shoujo mangas I've read. One of my favorites is Fruits Basket. If you're into anime, you've probably heard of it. FRUITS BASKET - 'Fruits Basket' has a co...

THE COSMOS

Image
So, I follow this amazing artist on Instagram, Tanya Shatseva. Her art truly inspires me; she can bring dreams to life with her paintings, and I aspire to reach her level someday.🙈 Back in school, I struggled with imagination and doubted my ability to create from my own ideas. But over the years, though, I've improved. I'm still learning and growing—it's not like I'm a creative powerhouse now. I find ideas on Pinterest and follow inspiring people on Instagram, but I'm constantly learning. Last August, I painted this piece and named it 'Cosmos',  A lady blending into the vast expanse of the universe..  Let me share the story behind it.  - I usually buy my art supplies from Starmark because they have an amazing collection. So, while browsing for a canvas, I spotted a neon green bottle of acrylic paint. Naturally, I couldn't resist buying it—who needs self-control anyway?😶😶 Later, as I was scrolling through Pinterest, I got an idea: why not paint somethi...
